Two beheadings, the first in Canada and the second in Greece; let me start with the latter. MSNBC reports on a Greek man beheading his girlfriend and then carrying her head around with him all over a tourist resort, introduced with what has to be, in italics, the stunning understatement of the year:
ATHENS - A 31-year-old Greek beheaded his girlfriend and carried her head around the popular tourist island of Santorini before he was arrested, police said on Sunday. The man, who police said had psychological problems, injured a police officer and two women while trying to escape arrest after killing the 25-year-old teacher in Greece's most picturesque island.
In Canada, a more horrific incident. Be careful, apparently (well, actually), of whom you sit next to on a bus. He might snap (invisibly), stab you to death, behead you and then start eating your body. The case is so surreal I have trouble believing it is real. May God give peace to the families of the deceased.
But some tourism operators are worried Samoa will lose business by losing its position as the last place on earth to see the sunset each day, although it will now be one of the first places to see in each new day.
