Ever been to the
Pacific northwest? I have not. But I will be going, inshallah, from Friday,
June 11th, to Sunday, June 13th.
On Friday, I'll be giving the jumu’ah khutbah at Bilal Masjid, in Beaverton, Oregon, at 1:30pm.
That evening, I'll present: The Facebook
Generation – Muslim Youth and New Media
Date: Friday, June 11th, 2010
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Location:
Bilal Masjid Trailers, Beaverton, OR
Bilal Masjid is located at:
4115 Southwest 160th Avenue,
Beaverton, OR
97007-2026.
Phone: (503)
591-7233
I'll be speaking at the Oregon Islamic Academy's Graduation Celebration on Saturday, June 12th, at 6:00pm. The potluck dinner will be held at The Smith Center, Portland State University, in the 3rd Floor Ballroom.
What's the Facebook event all about? Here's an idea:
Strong
communication skills have become a necessity for practically every pursuit,
from college and the world of education to professional life and non-profit
activism. Come one come all, listen and discuss with our guest speaker - Haroon
Moghul, that:
- How media works and what new trends and personalities tell us about
successful messaging and how communication matters?
- How to take lessons from the early successes of Islam and the wisdom of our
Prophet (sallalahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and apply them to the modern American
context?
- What are Muslim roles in new media (popular online
sites/blogs/twitters/Facebook)?
- How can Muslims steer the view of the world through new media?

Sounds really interesting. I would love to hear your khutba if you'd post it online. That reminds me; your khutba on Avatar was really nice.
